St. Croix Central Schools

Overview
As the St. Croix Central school district grew across a bond building program in Hammond, Wisconsin, Dimension Sign was the single Division 10 signage partner behind it — brought in by general contractor Market & Johnson of Eau Claire, one of several jobs the GC has handed us. We delivered the full interior ADA and wayfinding package for the campus and the dimensional aluminum identity letters naming the district's new Greg Green Early Learning Center and its 4K early-learning wing: design, engineered submittals, fabrication, and install, choreographed around a live, occupied school.
01 / The challenge
A phased school building program means signs go up last — only after paint, doors, glazing, flooring, and protective wall coverings are finished — so every install trip had to be timed to the general contractor's schedule across multiple occupied buildings. As a GC-managed public school project, every sign type ran the full gauntlet: shop-drawing submittals, architect review by Wold Architects & Engineers, subcontract change orders, certificates of insurance, permits, and complete warranty and O&M closeout documentation. And a school environment demands finishes that hold up — durable, low-maintenance materials at kid height, in a building meant to last decades.
02 / Our approach
We carried the whole signage scope for Market & Johnson as one accountable subcontractor. The interior package is a complete code-compliant tactile system — classroom, restroom, room-identification, and exit signs in painted photopolymer and sub-surface-painted acrylic, every one with raised copy and Grade 2 braille, sized per sign type and mounted to spec, plus thermoformed ADA signs through the wayfinding program. For the building's identity, we fabricated flat-cut clear-anodized aluminum dimensional letters spelling GREG GREEN EARLY LEARNING CENTER and 24-inch painted-acrylic 4K letters with the district's navy accent, stud-mounted on drill patterns for dead-level alignment. Anodized aluminum and painted acrylic were chosen on purpose — finishes that shrug off a school's daily wear and keep their color for the life of the building.

The GC's default signage call.
General contractors don't re-bid the trades they trust — they call them. Market & Johnson has brought Dimension Sign job after job, and St. Croix Central is the proof on one campus: the interior ADA program, the early-learning-center identity letters, and more, all carried by the same signage partner. When a GC hands you design-through-closeout on a public bond project and then comes back with the next one, that's the review that matters in construction.
